I’d describe myself as a Creative Gentle Giant, at your service. Being ‘Creative’ is the only way of life I want. So, I apply myself to my tasks and projects 100% with Passion, Ownership and Responsibility. Especially in this industry, “if you’re not growing, you’re dying”. So I am constantly pushing the boundaries on my technical abilities with software packages but also in my awareness of the latest technologies such as VR, AR and AI because I believe the next generations of entertainment and marketing will be based within these areas of technology. I must be ready. What I can offer is that hunger and passion to create experiences that convince consumers to make a decision with your brand.
BA (Hons) 3D Animation: Games Art – University of Hertfordshire – 2009 to 2012
I am currently in the process of working on a series of illustrated children's book which are tailored specifically to children who have difficulties with language development. Given I grew up with Autism I have a fire in my heart to be able to make a product that can help others with what I went through, using my skills that I have honed ever since I was a child. I wish to be an Illustrator that helps to make the world a little better off than how I found it.
I have successfully managed and deployed projects where we had to create engaging content for print and digital mediums. At all times, I make sure the brief is informative, the plan is concise, the execution is accurate, and the deliverables get the desired outcome.
The software I use include Photoshop, Illustrator, Procreate, Blender3D and Premiere Pro. With these I create 2D and 3D Digital assets to be used for deliverables in web design, printed leaflets & posters and even for pressing onto garments such as T Shirts and Hoodies!
I grew up with video games as a child. Video games always made sense to me. There were rules, there were a limited number of actions which, even if unpredictable, always fell within a logical scope of outcomes. I think this is how I became a passionate gamer and how I developed my skills in 3D. I've been able to learn enough so that it can assist me in my career as an illustrator and a designer and I am proud to be part of a gaming community which I grew up with and have some of my most fondest memories of with.
Traditional & Digital Artist:
As you may have guessed, drawing, painting and building video games has become my passion in life. I’m not motivated by fancy holidays or a car. My drawings help me communicate powerful ideas and my knowledge of digital packages let me execute those ideas into a product I can practically put my hands on. I'm the one with a sketchbook always on me (I’m serious, I’ll probably have one on me if we get to meet!).
Guitar playing:
I decided this was going to be my “covid -skill”. I had full time employment throughout the covid epidemic, but in my free time that I couldn’t go out, I decided it was about time to start studying my skills in more depth but also to pick up some new ones! The first songs I learned to play were Eric Clapton’s “Layla (Acoustic)” because it’s one of my mother’s favourites. I highly doubt I’ll have my guitar on me if we do get to me though. Pity.
3D Printing:
I have a basic knowledge of working with SLA and FDM printers and I mainly use it to make miniatures for things like DND. But from time to time I make working prototypes of products that help me develop my projects at work.
Airsoft:
Because it’s better than paintball. I defy you to prove me wrong.
Axe & Knife Throwing:
This a great little sport which get’s me out of the house and helps me “be in the moment”. There’s a real satisfaction when you hear that “Thunk” as my axe or knife hit’s the target. I’m very fortunate to be part of a local club where the head instructor is constantly the national champion, so we get to say we train with the best. We travel as a club all over the country to meet other ‘throwers’ and it’s a wonderful community of people that I’m proud to be a part of.
Dungeons & Dragons:
This is a fantastic game where the only limit is the imaginations of the players and the Dungeon Master. I have the privilege of meeting and knowing many geniuses and nutbags over the years and the 'campaigns' we play or have played have been many an inspiration for some of my illustration work.
